The need for and importance of pedagogy of sciences have been widely accepted in most of the developing countries including India. Most of the universities have either included this discipline in their curriculum of teacher¬education or intending to include it. Keeping in view the need, requirements and skills of a science teacher, this book has been prepared with special emphasis on the latest two-year B.Ed course in general and approved by the UGC. All major concepts of science are given their due place in this book. This book is written in a lucid, simple and systematic manner. The book is primarily intended to serve as a textbook for the teacher- trainees of B.Ed., who are specializing in the teaching of ‘physical sciences’, therefore, every attempt has been made to make the book useful for them. While preparing the book, the authors have freely consulted, quoted from and used the works of different authors on the subject, periodicals and journals.
