Over the past three decades I have taught countless students who were preparing for their Scholastic Aptitude Test (S.A.T.).

To succeed at the SAT, you must be proficient in calculating, estimating or approximating while you analyze the data presented in the test. This will also be something that will be the cornerstone of your success at university or college.

The entire SAT Reasoning Test is three hours and forty five minutes long (not including breaks). The entire test includes ten sections: seven 25 minute sections, two twenty minute sections, and one ten minute section.

Of the tens sections, three are math tests, of which one of the math tests is 20 minutes long, while two sections are twenty five minutes long.

The SAT Small Books Series have diagnostic tests designed to measure as well as improve your mathematics and quantitative skills. The diagnostic tests are Multiple Choice. You choose the best answer and write the letter down on paper. The answers for the tests are in the back of the book.

The General Calculator policy for the SAT is outlined by a set of rules and a list of acceptable calculators. That having been said, every question in the mathematics portion of the SAT can be solved without a calculator. You should try to become proficient enough at calculations to not require a calculator to undertake the SAT.

YOU HAVE TWENTY MINUTES FOR THE 12 QUESTIONS IN EACH DIAGNOSTIC TEST. Remember try the tests without a calculator!

There is a final twelve minute test with twelve questions.

Once you have taken the Diagnostic tests in this book you will have a better idea as to what you need to improve at in your math skills.

You might note I don’t use the word “Problem” when I discuss the math at hand. There are no problems in mathematics, only Questions. The ‘P-word’ tends to have a negative connotation … where the ‘Q-word’ is more upbeat.
