My Everest: Dedicated to all IIT Aspirants and their Parents

My Everest is an attempt to take the reader through the journey that we underwent as a family when my two kids, Manvi and Vinamra, prepared for IIT’s entrance exam. Back in 2008, Manvi dreamt of joining an IIT, a dream that seemed far away from reality, because we ourselves were far away from India back then. Destiny made us come back, and then began the great two-year quest for success for Manvi and then for Vinamra.

This book is dedicated to the millions of IIT aspirants who work hard in these crucial years–those who succeed, those who barely make the cut even after standing in the 99th percentile from across the country, those who ultimately fall short of achieving the goal they had set out for because of cut-throat competition, and their beloved co-passengers on this journey. Navigating through distractions like the internet, smartphones, games, and even girlfriends or boyfriends are real challenges in this day and age. The book guides parents and kids on how to get past the slippery slopes of this tumultuous time. The journey will be different for each child and parent, but there are some key lessons that everyone must learn to ensure that you come out better. Those who have been through it themselves will relate and reminisce, while others will get a glimpse of the future that awaits them.
