Interviews of Women in Tech

Initially I’d made this book out of curiosity.I had a burning question of what really was in the elusive “world of tech,” experiencein interviewing and writing articles, and a lot of time on my hands. And so I, with the help of my dad, started reaching out to people to interview. At first, it was a fun project, but I never expected to be so fascinated by the stories each person told me.If you search up what a job in tech is like, you’ll get articles after articles about “10 things you can do to make yourself successful in the industry.” But there are a tragic few personal accounts, if any. I haven’t really found anything that answers the very specific questions I had. What points in life made these people so passionate? Why? On top of that, the few that I could find were all by men. Where were the women? Where were the role models I could plausibly look up to? What were their experiences as a woman in this male-dominated industry? I couldn’t find anything that helped me in a concrete or satisfying way, so I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.With the interviews, I aimed to make this a personal look into the experiences, life, and journey of actual, real women in the tech industry. I wanted to make this easily accessible for everyone, especially girls like me who are interested in a career in tech. What better way of doing that then giving platform and raising my fellow women up in an industry they so often get overshadowed in?
