A History of Derwent

1500’s – Graphite found in Borrowdale in the Lake District.
1832 – First recorded factory manufacturing pencils in Keswick, Cumbria.
1941 – Secret wartime pencil produced for aircrew in bomber command, World War II.
1981 – The Cumberland Pencil Museum opens in Keswick, Cumbria.
1982 – Derwent pencils used to create the animation in the film ‘The Snowman’.
2008 – The company moves to a purpose built factory in Workington, Cumbria opened by HM The Queen.

Derwent Kneadable Eraser Blister Pack

The Derwent Kneadable Eraser is particularly useful for highlighting, stippling and ghosting. Just simply mould the eraser in your fingers until soft, pull into a point and carefully remove layers of graphite or colour pigment as required.

This Derwent Kneadable Eraser is ideal for lifting out tone and colour. The kneadable eraser is soft and pliable and comes in wax paper to help keep it fresher for longer.

Just mould this eraser until soft, pull into a point so it can be used to remove areas of colour or graphite.

It can be used for artistic techniques such as highlighting stippling and ghosting.
